VOLUNTEER NOTES.
The Whangarei Rifles are doing good work in camp, under the able instruction of Sergeant-Major.Hoare. There is a good attendance of officers and men in camp. Drill fills in a couple of hours before breakfast each morning, and from 5 to 7 o'clock in the evening, while during the day there is rifle practice. In the evenings Sergeant-Major Hoare holds clashes for the officers and non-commis-sioned officers. The work of the corps had shown a perceptible Improvement during the week in camp.
