LONDON, February 25. Lord Kitchener is in the Eastern Transvaal. General French reports that on Friday he occupied Piet Eetief. His troops are protecting the Swaziland frontier. Five thousand Boers are retreating in scattered disorganised parties, but pursuit is much hampered by continuous heavy rains. # He gives tiie following list of losses inflicted to February 16:—282 Boers known to be killed and wounded in action; 56 taken prisoners; 183 surrendered. A 15-pounder, 462 rifles, 162,000 rounds, of small ammunition, 3500 horses, 74 mules, -530 trek oxen, IS.TOO cattle, 155.400 sheep, and 1070 Waggons and carts, have also been captured. Five British officers and 41 men have been killed, and four officers and 108 men wounded.
