INVITATION TO NEW ZEALAND* ERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ; NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. ■ The Premier lias received the following- cable::—"At the suggestion of the Victorian Government, I, on behalf of the Commonwealth, cordially invite New Zealand to send troops to represent her at the celebrations in connection with the opening of the first Parliament by the Duke of Cornwall and York. It is hoped that you will find yourself able to arrange for,a thousand men. including- five hundred Maoris. Victoria will supply' accommodation and rations. The comradeship of your troops with ours in South Africa would render the proposed visit a source of • peculiar satisfaction to the Australian troops and the people, — (Signed) Edmund Barton, Prime Minister of the Comruonwenith of Australia, Sydney, February 22.' r
