HELENSVILLE ANNUAL SHOW.

President. Richard Monk, Esq., M.H.K.; vice-president. Daniel Stewart, EEC).: Messrs J. M. Phillipps (chair), F. Dye, S. Murray, L. J. Amburv. J. A. Wilson, J. Slat ter, L. E. Phillipps, T. F. Evans, J. I. Stewart, J. A. Simcock; secretary, (_'. H. Spinley; treasurer, VV. Downer.

The Helensville Agricultural Association held their second annual show in Stewart's paddock, Helensville, yesterday. The Association- was not favoured with good weather, the day being unpleasantly close, while showers fell during the afternoon. On this account probably the attendance, which was very fair, was not quite so large as on the occasion of the Association's first show- The show was again a decided success, and-the position of the Association seems to be assured. Entries were more numerous than in last year's show, and I most of the classes showed improveInient in quality. The horses were 'much the same as last year, the classes being very fair in number and | quality, especially amongst the heavier stock. The cattle were, with the : exception of some fine bullocks, rather 'poor in quality, but the sheep both in ; numbers and quality showed improve- | ment. The classing of the sheep was i however, somewhat faulty, and more [attention needs to be paid in this J direction. The exhibit of pigs was [ small, mainly owing to the prevalanee j-of swine fever in the district, but the animals shown were of good quality. In the agricultural produce class, a great improvement was noticeable, mainly owing to the favourable season. The exhibit of potatoes was particularly good. The riding and driving competitions were hardly so well contested as they were at the previous show, especially in the' girls' and ladies' classes. The management of the show was, on the whole, excellent, though the officers have something to learn in the matter of organisation. It iis understood that an effort is to be made to erect cattle and sheep pens on the show ground, instead of having them, as they are now, some distance away. Mr C .11. Spinley, the secretary, worked bard to promote the success of the show, and much of its success is due to his efforts. The following were the judge*? of the different classes: Horse?, "Mr Alan Bell (Remuera. Auckland); cattle, Mr Walter Paul (Mangere); sheep and pigs, Mr John [Pollard, M.H.1..; dairy produce, Mr J.
