VOLUNTEER NOTES.
THE COI.XAVALL
Messrs Carr, Johnston and Co. have received a telegram from Wellington stating that s.s. Cornwall, which is to take the Sixtli Contingent to South Africa, arrived at Wellington at noon to-day, and is expected "to leave for Auckland at li .p.m. on Saturday next. She should arrive here about daylight on Tuesday, 29th inst.
The Devonport Submarine Miners, under Captam. Parker and Lieuts. Davis,' Robinson and Reid, are in camp at Devonport for their annual sixteen days' course of instruction. The corps went into camp on the 16th inst, and have already put in some useful work, under the supervision of Captain Coyle. officer commanding the No. 2 Service Corps.
In the. volunteer news publishe-d last evening it was stated that .10 out of the 22 New Zealand' marksmen succeeded in getting into the Commonwealth aggregate at the recent rifle meeting at Sydney. The number should have been 11, Colour-Sergeant Gatland's name having been overlooked. Gotland scored -20, the same as Lieut. Cox-, and won £2; his position among the New Zealanders was fii'th.
