PONSONBT REGATTA RACES.

The two yacht races—cruisers' race and one and a-half raters' race—postponed from the Ponsonby Regatta last month, were sailed off on Saturday afternoon. A stiff nor'-easter was blowing in the harbour, and sent the boats along at a great pace. Mr Willis' yacht Echo acted as flagship, and the judging and timekeeping was entrusted to Messrs Carter and Stonex. Results:—

Cruisers' Race.—Cooee, shr 24m 15s, 1; Mabel, 5h 41m, 2; Peri, 5h 43m 30s, ?.; Spray, 5h 45m ss; Halcyon, 5h 46m. Also started: Rarere and Corinna. The c6urse was from flagship off Birkenhead, thence round mark boat off Kauri Point, thence round mark off Hobson-street Wharf,thence round mark off Stanley Point, returning round mark off Hobson-street Wharf, finishing off flagship; twice round. Cooee took the lead after rounding the mark off Hob-son-street for the first, time, and was never headed, winning comfortably. Mabel, Peri, and Spray made a great race for second place. . . .

Yachts, one and a-half rating and under. —Alma, 4h 35m 255, 1; Rose, 4h 38m,.305, 2. Course: Same as last race, once round. Edna and Myra also started, but the former was very late in reaching the starting post, and the latter lost her centreboard and gave up. Alma kept the lead throughout the race. ROWING RACES. The St. George's, Auckland, and West End Rowing Clubs each intended holding trial fours last Saturday afternoon, but owing to the boisterous weather the races had to be postponed, the water being too rough for the gigs.
