TRAP ACCIDENT.
,j SEVERAL LADIES INJURED,
{By telegraph.—Press Association.)
GISBORNE, this day.
■On Saturday evening Mr. Maclaurin, station holder, while driving homewards on Eiverside Road, a narxow road along the Waimata River bank, met a sulky containing Misses Xaird and Wyllie, hospital nurses, and a child patient they were taking for an outing. The horse attached to the sulky took fright at the sudden meeting, and made the other horse do likewise. Horses and vehicles rolled over the steep embankment, and the occupants were thrown out. 'All were much shaken. Of those in Mr. MacLaurin's buggy Miss McKay, a young lady visitor, who was to return' to Auckland on Sunday, had her face badly cut, and her right elbow injured. * Miss Scott fell into the river, and had her head badly cut; Miss Bright, hospital nurse, was severely shaken, as were the occupants of the other buggy. Miss Wylie, as she rolled over and over down the embankment, pluckily kept the child (named Garlick) clasped in her arms. The child's leg was badly cut. It is wonderful that none were killed.
