WELLINGTON RACING CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING.

The Summer Meeting of the Wellington Kncinir Club will be commenced on Tuesday next at the Hutt racecourse, and as the quality of the horses engaged is of the highest class the fixture promises to bo luosi successful. The principal item is of course the Wellington Cup ot (KjOsovb, which will be run over 1» mile. Ton runners remain in, aud the winner sceius well concealed. Boreas with !>.« is at the head of the list, aud as the Son-wester horse has ppoved his ability to carry weight he is sure to be dangerous. At the same time k may be said that Boreas has done nothing much recently, and it is possible that he may bo a bit below himself. Should this prove the case, the stable will no doubt rely on Tortulla, who with B.S must be certainly given a chance. Of the lightly-weighted division it may be that Skobeloff may prove the most dangerous, although personally I am far from being convinced that the son of Stepniak is other than a moderate. To sum the matter up, my verdict for the big Southern handicap must go in favour of Uenown, and his nearest opponents should be Coeur de Lion and Tortulla.

For the President's Handicap, should Blazer be able to got the distance he will nearly win, while of the others liuamatiungn reads well. In the Anniversary Handicap, if Blazer should be sent to do battle he ought to win, but in his absence Melwood and First Blood should flght it out. For the Nursery Ilaudieap nothing reads
