LONDON, January 17. Ten thousand Capetown Guards have been enrolled.
It is expected that Hertzog will attack the Hex River Pass, about 120 miles north of Capetown.
The pass is strongly held
Each of Kitchener's fighting scouts has been provided with two spare horses, which are ridden or led by a Wired Matabele.
Lord Kitchener has transferred 20,000 troops southward.
