A large number of the friends of Mr and'; Mrs Burgess met last night and pre-,-' sented Mrs Burgess with a valuable* onyx' clock and purse of sovereigns as a slight" memento of esteem and regard, awT; in appreciation of the many valuable self vices rendered during her residence al Paeroa. Mr and Mrs Burgess leaye -heris | in a few days for Hokitika, where Mr Burgess has been transferred as manager^ of the Bank of New Zealand. ■ •': $$|

The monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County' Council was held last evening, when the following tenders were -accept-; cd:—Re-surfacing and metalling 65 chains Earl of Glasgow Track, J. Goonan, £272 10/; furnishing 300 cubic yards of. 3-; inch metal, Golden Cross Road, C. Anderson, £92 10/; supplying sawn timber for 12 months at Paeroa, W. Forrest, 9/3 per 100 feet; grading and forming portion"Ojt Walmsley Road at WailTi, P. Sheehan, £55; burnishing 750 cubic yards of 4-inch spalls for Walmsley Road. Waihi, J*. Jackson. . £ISI 5/; grading and forming' Gray, Slevin and Dobson streets, Waihi, P. Sheehan, £140; forming Featon and : Walker streets, Waihi, P. Sheehan, £100;-' furnishing 1100 cubic yards of 4-inch :> spalls for Gray, Slevin and Dobson streets, Waihi, J. Jackson, „350; furnishing 930 cubic yards 4-inch spans, Adams-.; street, Waihi, W. Brown, £162 15/; furnishing 250 cubic yards, of stone for metal on Tauranga Road from Waihi Company's tram to the Ohinemuri River, A. Higgins, £56 5/; widening portion of tne Paeroa- !
