MR SEDDON IN SYDNEY.
WELCOMED BY NEW ZEALANDEES
SYDNEY, December 30.
; Mr- Seddon and his party arrived by the Mdkoia after a pleasant passage. Before leaving- the steamer the company assembled on 'the upper deck, when Mr Seddon, on behalf of _ the passengers, presented Captain Spinks with an address. A number of representative New Zealariders met and welcomed tne Premier. .• . . 1 The Union Company have placed the Mokoia at Mr Seddon'a disposal for a trip round the harbour whenever he chooses. Mr Seddon was welcomed by a large party of New Zealand residents. He visited the camp with Mr Carroll, Mr Witheford, Mr Palmer, and. other legislators, and addressed a welcome to the returned troops from the Cape. He found tha\t the. Commonwealth contingent had earned golden opinions since, their arrival mi the colony, but was disappointed at the character of the horses provided. Had he known earlier he ; would have sent suitable horses from New Zealand. He recognised, however, the strain that had been placed on New South Wales in providing for all the forces.
