MR S. JACKSON'S CONCERT.
Tho private concert given annually in the Choral Hall by Mr S. Jackson took place last evening. About two hundred people were present, and one and all enjoyed the excellent programme presented. The orchestral items were especially good, time and tune being perfect, while the shading and expression were carefully brought out. Tho items included Schubert's "Rosamunde," Cowen's "Language of Flowers," "The Belle of New York," Merc-adante's "La Vestalo " and "The Geisha." Mr-S. Jackson and Miss Elsie Giliillan led the orchestra. Mr Whittaker gave a. good rendering of "In Plymouth Sound," ami Miss Hunter was also very successful in "Sweet Vale of Avoca," in which the violin obligate was sweetly played by Miss Elsie Giliillan. In the second part Miss Hunter gave "When tlie Flowing Tide Comes In" in a highly acceptable manner. Miss Dagmar Giliillan gave a very pleasing rendering of the 'cello solo, "Le Revo," and Miss Florence Walker played Wieniawski's difficult "Souvenir de Moscow" with taste and expression. Mr Jackson took part in a flute and clarionet duet with Master C. Finlayson, and with Master T. Carrigan in a clarionet and cornet duet, Till's "Serenade." Mrs S. Jackson acted as pianist.
