BANJO CLUB'S CONCERT.
-At the Opera Hous e last evening, the Auckland Banjo, Guitar, and Mandolin Club gave one of their periodic concerts, and as usual attracted a large attendance. An excellent programme of vocal and instrumental music w:is presented, including the following orchestral items by the Club: "Top Notch" gallop, "Coloured Band" patrol, "Rosedale" waltz, and "La Belie" mazurka, all of which were very effectively rendered. A characteristic patrol quintette, "Midnight in a. Graveyard," was well played by Mr JLawrence and Miss Ada Brooks (mandolins), Miss Lily Barker (guitarra), Miss Amy Hare (guitar), and Mr 11. Fountain (banjo); also Ihe
"Ziska" gavotte, in which Miss Rita Posseneskic replaced Miss Brooks as mandolinist. Madame Casier sang "Happy Dreamland" (Sims Reeves), and "The Swallows" (Cowe.n), receiving- an encore for the latter number. Mr G. E. Bagnall contributed "Queen of the Earth," and Mr A. L. Edwards "When a Little While Has Flown" (Lloyd), aud "Estudiantina." Mr Wynne Grey kept the audience interested and amused with some clever conjuring tricks, and Miss LydLi-JL. i:rfoot and .Mr M. Lewis were loudly encored for their whistling; duet '-The Mocking- Bird." Mr W. McKenzie's comic itexos were; very successful. Other items on the programme were a guiitarra solo by Miss Lily Barker; a banjo solo "Frivolity," barn dance by Mr J. Lawrence; and a guitarra and banjo duet "Life's Dream is O'er," Miss Barker and Air Harry Fountain. Mr J. Lawrence made an efficient leader. Miss Edith Murcott was pinniste for the orchestral items, while Mr Alt'. Hartley accompanied the vocalists. Mr S. E. Coleman acted as stage manager, and the artistic stage decorations were under the supervision of Miss Mcfflione.
