A lecture was delivered under the auspices of the Anglo-Israel Association by Dr. Hosking entitled, me Gate* _f *» EmPire." ,Mf sided. Dr. Hosking's lecture went to show that the references in the Bible could apply to no other Power but Britain, holding, as she did the "gates," encircling the possessions o± the other Powers, and lending, but never borrowing. The chairman, Dr. Bodle, and Mr. Dewar criticised the lecturer's remarks, and. i_l reply to a qnestion Dr. Hosking said that he con sidered the surrender of HjUgo land to Germany a mistake. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to -Ur. Hoskiug for his lecture, and the hope was expressed that' he would be heard again.
