BENEVOLENT SOCIETY
The Wellington Benevolent Institution has wiped off a debt of £1300, and has a credit balance of £700.
TIMBER CARGOES,
The brigantine Eliza Firth, from Kaipara, brings 120,000 feet of kauri for local sawmillers. She takes 40,000 feet to Lyttelton, and returns to Kaipara with produce. Shipments aggregating 340,000 feet are expected by the Jessie Niccol, scows Ngaru and Moana. . INSPECTOR OF MACHINERY. Mr R. Duncan, Chief Inspector of Machinery, is on his way to Auckland. COMMERCE AKD INDUSTRIES. The salary of the Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Industries will be £450.
