Drunkenness. —For ' this offence William Inkster and Robert Cecil Bingley were each fined £1, in default 14 days hard labour; James Paul was fined 10/ or 48 hours, and Edward Costigan was mulcted in a similar amount. A first, offender was convicted and discharged, and Eliza Lestrange, charged with an eighth offence within six months, was remanded till to-morrow.

Fighting in the Street.—William Wiggins and James Ferguson were each fined £1 for committing a breach of the peace by fighting in the public street.

Prohibited. —A young maii named Henry Harrison pleaded not guilty to having, purchased liquor for Martha Reid, a prohibted person. Sub-In-spector Wilson appeared for the prosecution, and Mr Lundon for the defence. It was shown that defendant purchalsed the liquor at the Swan Hotel, but His Worship held that there was not enough evidence to show that the liquor was bought for Martha Reid. The case was accordingly dismissed.

By-Law Case. —William Kerr, 'bus driver, was fined 5/ and costs 19/ for leaving the Three Lamps, Ponsonby, at other than his appointed time.
