(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Tuesday.' A man named John Edward Bayley, 33 years old, single, lost his life ia ; the river-this afternoon. He was. mounted on a white, horse and rode down to the foreshore near the town bridge, and was behaving in an eccen.tric maner as though under the influence of liquor. He was observed to '■-. force his .horse into the ' wafer as though to swim the »river. He apparently lost his seat, and not being1 able to swim could not regain the shore.
