ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Tuesday.' A man named John Edward Bayley, 33 years old, single, lost his life ia ; the river-this afternoon. He was. mounted on a white, horse and rode down to the foreshore near the town bridge, and was behaving in an eccen.tric maner as though under the influence of liquor. He was observed to '■-. force his .horse into the ' wafer as though to swim the »river. He apparently lost his seat, and not being1 able to swim could not regain the shore. The horse swam ashore some distance further down the stream. The body was recovered a couple of hours after. .. ' -

She appear-," ed to be all right, but on Monday she;;; became ill and was sent to the hos-' : 4 pital and died there.
