WAIHI EXTENDED.
Boring is progressing very satis factorily through andesite country, which though hard is of a very favourable description. The bore is down 274 ft. Another 20ft will reach the soft clay and grit met with previous to getting the quartz in the last bore. Once this is passed the bore will be fitted with 3-inch tubes, which will allow of fair samples of quartz being taken as the reef is penetrated.
NEW WHAU.
The Sons of Freedom reef in the rise is 3ft Gin in width,* a splendid looking body of ore, which shows signs of improving as it is risen upon. Gold is seen in the general ore at each breaking down, but no picked stone has been selected this week. During the week nice strong dabs have been showing in the fac& on several occasions.' The reef in the drive is coming in a little smaller and firmer, while the stringer trecenfly referred to as striking into the reef is running in a direct angle with thi" ore body, and is a trifle wider thar it was when first intersected. Or Saturday a crushing of ore from th< Sons of Freedom reef, in the rise, commenced at the Fame and Fortune Company's battery. - -
