VOLUNTEER GRIEVANCES
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, this day
Complaint is made that: the shooting arrangements of the Wellington volunteers are till behindhand. The competition lor the Government medals for last year has not yet been held, and some men who qualified to fire have in the meantime left the eompauiefi to which they belouged. The only rifle range in the town is in tin unsatisfactory state, because the want of mounds makes it impossible for more than two men to fire at once. Another cause of complaint is the failure of the Gazette regulations for the cup presented by the Governor. It is also alleged that the sighting of the Martin!-Enfield rifles is defective, some of them being 100 yards out. The Wellington volunteers do not like the idea of holding the Easter encampment at the Hut!. It is now five years since the camp was held away from Wellington, and the men consider it is high time the site was changed. An agitation is on font to have it altered to 1-ilmerston or Wanganui.
