CRICKET.
Auckland 11. v Combined Ponsonby.— Auckland ll.'defeated a combined Ponsonby team on Saturday by 40 runs on the first innings. Por the winners Cossey (35), Holland (28), Hill (25), St. Paul (19 not out), H. Grindrod (18), and Greyille (12) reached double iigures; while St. Paul (4 wickets for G3) bowled well. For Ponsonby Irving Clark played a good Innings for 48 not out; Robertson (31), Noton (16), also sot double ligures. W. Mills (6 wickets for 35) bowled best for Ponsonby.
Auckland C.C. v. Pakuranga.—A team from the Auckland Cricket Club journeyed to Pakuranga on Saturday and played an eleven from that district. The home players made 64, and Auckland responded with 190. Pakuranga made 46 jn their second innings, Auckland thus winning by an innings and 80 runs. For Auckland Hicks _.o) showed free cricket, while T. Neill (-14), Yon der Hyde (31), E. McCormick (17), and H. McCoy (13) also got double figures. For Pakuranga, Speechly (13), Philips (13), W. Cooper (13) were the only double-figure men. For Auckland, Yon der Hyde (6 wickets for 20 runs), and T. Neill (7 wickets for 18 runs) bowled very well. Speechly with 5 wickets for 36 bowled best for Pakuranga. The visitors were afterwards entertained by the local men.
Pitt-street C.C. v. Surrey Ramblers C.C. —The former team defeated the latter by 48 runs on the first innings. For Pittstreet (total 87) Tucker (35 not out) and Hill (10) were the highest scorers, while for the Ramblers (total 39) Davies (11) was the only double-figure man. Tucker and Connell bowled well for Pitt-street, as did Roseman and Bruce for Surrey Ramblers.
