Mr Haseldene, S.M., decided that the fact of receiving an old age pension did not reirSove.the recipient from the definition destitute person. The pension was avowedly not enough to support the person, and if there was any indication of ./what was. considered necessary for the support of a. pensioner it must "be taken that £52 was the standard..
The Pharmacy Board finished their conference. The local executive were complimented on the way they did their work. The Board trlopted regulations for the conduct of elections, general procedure, examinations, and apprenticeship. The subject of interchanging certificates with other Australian colonies-was discussed, but it was decided the only course possible would be one of examination administered from a central situation. After 48 hours of a tremendous dust storm the weather was brilliant for the celebration, which included Hibernian sports, and reg-atta, also puncheon to and 'departure of the'" Wellington' section of the Fourth Contingent, The export trade with Sydney Jo malt is;being developed, a local company having just obtained a contract for 25,000 bushels at a. price higher than other maltsters can get.
