(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Friday.
The attendance yesterday at the match between the Melbourne Cricket Club team
and the New Zealand eleven Was very fair. On present appearances the game : will result in a decisive win for the Mcli bourne team. New Zealand's first innings was a very miserable display, and With but few exceptions the batting was feeble. The team was at the wickets for about two hours and twenty minutes for the small total of S9. The wicket played fairly well, and the bowling, though good, was not sufficiently formidable to account for such a poor display. Being in a minority of 278 runs, New Zealand had to follow on, and the second innings was commenced shortly after 5 p.m. Up to the present It has been more satisfactory than the first, as GO runs have been scored for the loss of four wickets.. The following are the scores:—
