CHELMSFORD.

The scow has arrived at Upper Tairua landing with the battery machinery for the Chelmsford Company. BARRIER REEFS. The contractor is getting out 4he posts, sills and bracing for bunker and trestle work, and the planking for the same is now on the site. All concrete work about the mill has been finished, excepting the engine, boiler and pump foundations. One. mortar block is in position, and another will follow by the end of the week. The last load of bricks and materials ror the boiler and furnace-has arrived, and cartage to the site is proceeding rapidly. Firewood is being cut and stacked along the waggon road. In the mine the rise from No. 2 level has connected with No. 1 level, which will be cleared out and timbered where necessary.
