WELCOME JACK RETURN.
£203 FHOM SIX TONS. Another parcel of ore from the Welcome Jack mine, Kapowai, has been treated, and yielded very satisfactorily. Owing to the delay in granting the license the company were interrupted in their intention of having a ten ton parcel treated from a winze on So. 1 lead. This level intersects the lead 20 feet from the surface, and a winze has been sunk 40 feet, from .he level, thus giving 00 feet of backs from the surface to the bottom of the winze. The six tons of ore were treated at Messrs Fraser and Sons', and gave an assay average per ton of £46 14/2?. The tola! assay value of the ore was £276 18/7, and the total value recovered was £262 10/10 J. This gives bullion saved 95.5 per cent., which is highly satisfactory.
