GOLD RETURNS.
The ouipnt of g'olc! for ihe past month totals £45,210 18/10. This is not quite equal io the yield for the previous month, but the shortage of a few Imndreds in the total is solely due 1o the dry weather, which by reducing the water for motive power lessened the quantity of ore treated at the tipeountry batteries. The output from Ohinemnri mines this month is £35----472, as against £41.257 15/1 last month, the shortage being1 entirely due to the low state, of the water supply. Coromandel on the other hand shows an increase, the yield this month being £7,310 ■ li/SS, against .-e.-.'.T1l 10/4 last month. The return from the Thames also shows an increase, the. output being1 £5,428 15/2, as against £,4.575 12/2 the previous month. It is thus evident that but for the falling- off: referred to hvOhinemui'l, the returns this month should liave gone well over £50.000.
