MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS.
The fifty-sixth annual meeting of the Auckland Djstrict of the above Order was held on Feb. 27 in the Cookstreet Hall. There was a large attendance of deputies from the various Lodges. About 48 deputies attended, all the Lodges but two being fully represented. The following officers were also present:—Grand Master A. H. J. Rider, Deputy Grand Master G. F. Fowler, District Secretary John McLeod, District Treasurer John Leydon, District Warden C. G. Tyke.
The election of officers for the ensuing 12 months resulted as follows:— Grand Master, G. Fletcher (Loyal Duke of Cambridge Lodge); Deputy Grand Master, F. J. Wheat-ley (Good Intent Lodge); District Secretary, John McLeod (Good Intent Lodge), unopposed; District Warden, C. G. Tyke; District Treasurer, John Leydon (re-elected); District Trustee. F. J. Wheatley (reelected).
In the evening a gold medal was presented to P.P.G.M. John Leydon. for the many services rendered by him to Oddfellowship in the Auckland district, more especially in the direction of opening new Lodges. The newlyelected officers were then duly installed, and, this being done, returned thanks for the honour. The retiring Grand Master (Brother Eider) was the recipient of a gold medal in recognition of his services to the Order during his 12 months of office.
