VOLUNTEER MOTES.
On Saturday last several members and friends of the Auckland Mounted Rifles met at Epsom, and practised tent-pegging1, lemon-cutting-, etc. After some preliminary trials teams were picked by Serg-t. O'Halloran and Corporal Ferguson, for tent-pegging;, the former's team proving- victorious by 28 points to 20, the highest scorer being—Serg-t. O'Halloran 14, Trooper Dick 12. After making- some changes another match was arranged, in. which Corporal Ferguson's team reversed their position, winning by 54 points to 30. The following are some of the highest scores: Corporal Ferguson 16, Mr M. Wynyard 14, Trooper Dick 12, Trooper Pond 12, Trooper Harris (Fifth Contingent), 10, Mr Markam 10. Lieuts. Blomfield and Wynyard were also present. The annual meeting of the company takes place next Friday evening-.
