Pastoral Session.—From 8 o'clock until nearly 9.30 o'clock a pastoral session was held, during which each committee was asked as to character, and every reply was .satisfactory.. It was also reported that the. resignation of the Rev. John Hosking, D.D., had been received and accepted. ■A Question of Trust.'—When the Conference resumed the Rev. W. J. Williams said he wished to bring before the Conference a matter requiring the most serious consideration, in order to prevent what might become a scandal to the church. It arose out j of the Methodist Union, and was in regard to the Pitt and Vincent Street Church property. That property had been sold' by the trustees and left a deficiency of about £185. The question was how that was to be paid. The trustees did not feel they were called upon to pay that amount, neither did the Pitt Street circuit feel any obligation to meet the deficiency. At this stage the Conference went into Committee, and upon resuming it was resolved to agree to the recommenda-. tion- made in Committee .that the amount be paid out of the Centenary, Fund. Theolog-lcal Training Institution.— The report of Rev. Mr Simmonds re theological training was adopted. The balance sheet showed receipts, £257 11/5, of which £210 was from the Probert Trust. The expenditure left a debit balance of £87 6/9. The; Rev. J. 11. Simmonds was again ap- \ pointed Governor of the Institution,! and was accorded a hearty vote of j thanks for the faithful manner in! which his duties had been tfTscharged. j Prince Albert College.—Rev. R, 11. I Dewsbury read the annual report of j the Prince Albert College, which re-! ferred to the good work done in train-' ing scholars, 14 out of the 16 who went up for matriculation examination having passed, and two for the medical examination. Although there were 200 pupils attending the College, still : the income had not balanced the expenditure last year. Arrangements had been made which it was hoped

would result in the income meeting the expenditure during the current ; year. The report was adopted and ithe balance sheet was considered in I Committee. It was resolved to thank the Governor, Rev. Mr Simmonds, for the careful training of Native scholars. Messrs T. Allen and W. Gunson retired from the Committee. Rev. Dewsbury moved and Rev. Laurie seconded that the Treasurer of the Theological Training College be ex officio a member of the Conference. After some discussion it was resolved on the motion of Dr. Morley to proceed to the next question. Subsequently Mr G. A. Buttle was appointed Treasurer of the Theological Training Institution.

The Conference sat until a late hour and dealt with various routine matters.
