DEEP SEA TRAWLING.

In pursuance of the vote passed by. the House last session in' aid of trawling-, the Government has chartered the' steamer Doto, which will start to-day from Napier completely equippetl for the enterprise under the immediate direction of Mr Ayson, Chief Inspector of Fisheries'. "The Doto will work southwards from the Ninety Mile Beach, north of Canterbury, to Stewart's Island, when she will steer northwards to Wanganiii Bight, and it is expected that an expert will join the steamer at Lyttelton in. order to preserve any new" species of fish that may be caught. -
