JEWELLERS' PICNIC.
The picnic organised by the jewellers in aid of the War Fund took place at Motutapu on Saturday last. The p.s. Eagle made two trips to the island, conveying a large number on each trip. The picnic proved very successful. A sports programme was gone through, Mr H. Fielder acting as secretary, Mr A. White as starter, and Messrs E. White, O. Read and A. Smith as judges. The events resulted as follows:—100yds Apprentices' Handicap: Marriot 1, Harvey 2, Watson 3. 150 Yards: Cowan 1, J. Holden 2. H. Whole 3. Single Ladles' Race: Miss Henrickson 1, Miss Lacone 2, Miss Watson 3. Married Men's Race: A. Smith 1, E. Jones 2, E. Haydon 3. 440 yds Apprentices' Handicap: Marriott 1, Harvey 2, Booth 3. 150 yds Open (amateur): R. Myles, 14yds,l; S. Heald, 12yds, 2; G. Smith, scratch, 3. 440 yds Trade Handicap: Whole 1, Cowan 2, Mcaffer 3.
