BOERS LOSE HEAVILY.

LONDON, February 18.

The fighting which took place at Rendsburg on Monday was of a fierce ! and determined character. | Four thousand Boers attacked a hill defended by the Worcester Regiment, and were badly repulsed, losing lat least one hundred killed. Ultimately the Boers occupied Rens:burg. '—Two- companies of the Wiltshire Regiment (about 200 men) holding a '..■post'inthei vicinity of Rensburg were forgotten when the British retired , to Arundel, and were captured. I LONDON, February 17.
Major-General Clements retired from Rensburg in order to protect Naauwpoort. Tlie Boer casualties on Monday in the engagement near Rensburg were heavy. The Australians were greatly outnumbered, but displayed great coolness, bravely covering the infantry's retreat. Two companies of the Wiltshire Regiment engaged in outpost duty were intercepted. Two privates of the Victoria Rifles who were wounded, namely, Burrows (severely) and Gifford (slightly), were taken prisoners, and sent to Pretoria.
