N.Z. SECOND CONTINGENT.

Trooper Taylor, of the Second Contingent writes from Albany as fallows: "A portion of the contingent were entertained at a bazaar and concert on February Ist here. The following New Zealailders contributed songs and recitations: J. Irwin, Waverley, Taranaki, "Good-bye Mavourneen,'; Sergt. Tailor, "London by Night"; Private Delaney, Auckland, "Up-to-Date" (encored); "Good-bye New Zealand." At the conclusion of the 'concert we all gave them the Maori war-cry, "Komati, komati, kahore, kahore, kia kaha Niu Tirini, he ha ha," and all joined in singing the National Anthem. The people were very kind to us and made us welcome. We are the only contingent that can lay claim to the honour and distinction of having been received with the Union Jack, Stars and Stripes flying. The boys are very happy and still burning for gore. Aucklanders wish to be remembered to all friends." The writer adds: "We should be pleased if you would make it known through your paper that the Auckland members of the second contingent presented Lieut. S. G. Banks, of Auckland, with a valuable gold-mounted riding-whip, Private Fred Delaney, on behalf of the Auckland quota, making the presentation just before reaching Albany; also* that Lieut. Banks is a very popular o&cer right throughout j the divisions." ',•-;. •/...-.:.:.: '
