ST. DAVID'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
CALL TO A VICTORIAN MINISTER.
A meeting of the congregation of St. David's Church was held last evening for the purpose of considering a call to fill the pulpit, rendered vacant by the Rev. R. Scott West, proceeding to Burwood. The Rev. R. Sommerville moderator of the session, presided over a large gathering. He hoped if there was any difference of opinion there would be no unpleasantness. Al I the members of the session were not: agreed, but the minority would go heartily with the majority, and lie hoped the congregation would follow their example. The first duty was to fix the stipend to be paid. On the motion of Mr Wilson it was decided that this be £400 per annum. Mr Fordyce proposed, and Mr Ferguson seconded that the name of Mr Gray Dixon, M.A., of Warrnambool, Victoria, be inserted in the call. Mr McPherson moved and Dr. Maclaurin seconded, that the name of Rev. Jas. Chisholm late of Milton, be inserted in the call. ,Mr Dixon had a majority of votes, and on it being put as a substantive motion that the name of Mr Dixon be insertedin the call, nearly double the number who voted in the first instance supported the motion. Mr Dixon was declared duly elected, Messrs Anderson, Murdock, Murray and Lambert being appointed commissioners to appear before the Presbytery in support of the call.
