THE OHINEMURI ELECTION.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —In publishing the results of the Ohinemuri election you placed me as having received four Arotes, when you should have classed such votes as informal. Ignorance of my retiring from the contest may be excusable in the four who thus threw away their votes, but it is scarcely so in those responsible for printing the results, more especially as my retirement was published through the medium of your columns three days before the election, as well as all other available means being taken to make it known to the electors.

By inserting, this correction you will disabuse the minds of those outside the electorate who may be under the impression that I went to the_ poll and received the meagre support of four votes, when it is well known throughout this electorate that my retiring was the means of placing the Government candidate (Mr Jackson Palmer) in the proud position of being at the top of the poll. Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc., EDWARD J. DRUMM.
