PROHIBITION IN CLUTHA.

DUNEDIN, Tuesday. The Clutha local option poll resulted as follows: — Continuance 1395 i Reduction 1909 ' No-license .2170 Informal .-. J... 143
The returning officer is. not in a position to make an official declaration yet till he receives the papers from Chaslands. The total number of votes is 3752. If the 143 informal votes are deducted, the votes recorded total 3609. Reduction was, therefore, carried by 104 votes, but is superseded by nolicense, which was carried by a majority of foiir votes. If these figures are 'officially confirmed, the hotel at Fukerau, which was incorporated on the occasion of the change of electoral boundaries, will be closed after June 30. The wholesale license will also cease at Tapanui, arid Clutha will once more be a prohibition district.
