A return ordered by last Parliament, just printed, shows that the Waikakahi and Scarborough Estates were purchased at £6 15/ per acre, the land tax value being £0 11/8. The owner received £73,090 9/7 cash and £250,000 in debentures, bearing 3§ per cent, interest. The owners of the Scarborough Estate received £230 cash aud £ 99,000 debentures, at 3J per cent., the debentures having a currency of ten years. Expenditure on the Levin State farm in 1898-99 was" £1764 13/2, and receipts were £1150, including a Parliamentary vote of £800." The plans of the proposed public baths at Te Aro provide for two (one for each sex), 150 feet by 60 feet.
