HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
At 2 p.m. to-morrow the summer show held under the auspices of the Auckland Horticultural Society will be opened at the Choral Hall. ' Although the weather latterly does not suggest summer, still there is plenty of bioom in the gardens, and there should be a tine display. The roses should be a feature of the show as they are unusually fine this season. The Children's Flower Show, which is combined with that of the Society, should be a good one, as great interest has been manifested in it this year, in one class alone there . being no . less than 400 exhibits. There have also been nearly 40 entries in the competition for gardens tended by boys and girls. The Countess of Ranfurly it will be remembered presented four medals, two for girls and two for boys, the classes being under 10 and under 12 years of age. The medals' are at present on exhibition in Messrs A., Vales and Co.'s window, Queen-, street. Apart from the honour of securing a prize, the medals are of considerable value, being composed of solid silver and supplied with ribbon and bar clasps. These medals are square in shape, and on the front bear the inscription:' "Presented by the Countess of Ranfurly to ——," a space being left for the engraving of the winner's name.
