PIGS.
BERKSHIRE BREED
: Judges: Messrs J. M. Bollard and J R. Walters. Stewards: Messrs* C. Pegler, J. Carruth and J. Wyllie.
The entries for pigs are the largest and the competition iii most classes is the keenest seen ait an Auckland Show for some years; this especially refers to the Berkshires, which the judges consider are far ahead, both in quality and quantity, o£ the
Yorkshires. Mr Alfred Kidd's champion boar Windsor Prince, compares favourably with any in the colony. Mr E. H. Kelly's breeding sow, any age, which scored the champion prize, is also «■ very fine animal, as is also the same exhibitors Yorkshire sow, which also gained the champion prizel The Avondale. Asylums "boar under two years which gained the champion prize is only 'a fair animal. On the whole the Berkshires are as good as any to be found in the colonies. Messrs H. and J. Binstead's boar under one year exhibits all the qualities of n first-class animal. A new feature of the exhibits among- this class is the bacon pigs, which the judges consider excellent and one- of the features of the Show. The judges had considerable difficulty in awarding the prizes to the sows with litter. MiEdwin H. Kelly, of Papatoitoi, secured first ami champion for his Berkshire sow and Yorkshire sow.
