A STORMY MONTH.

PREDICTED FOR NEW ZEALANDt

The Marine Department has received from O. Presna, mathematical astro^ nomer of Sydney, a special lunar meteorological weather forecast for farmers and gardeners for a period of one month, dating from November 12 to December S, 1899. This weather forecast relates chiefly to the New Zealand coast and highlands, and is supplied by the Department "for what it may be worth." Presna says that between the abovementioned dates the weather will be unpropitious and turbulent, with destructive storms, squalls, lightning, wiuds, heavy rain, and hail. In; places the sea will be dangerouslyrough. Nearly nil vegetation in this colony will suffer. As parts of the colony, which are not affected by the storms, squalls, Hoods, etc., will be visited by hot winds, dryness, etc., the late sown crops of this year will be a total failure from the'effect of the. weather. The most boisterous winds will blow from north-west. This wind will be rather predominant during the abovementioned period, and this Jkind of weather will, more or less, prevail all over Australasia. If due time were employed the exact place could be located,.and the statement made aS to how it would be affected, whether by storms, winds, floods, etc. Shipowners are also advised to be on the look-out and watch daily the reports of our meteorologist, as such precau« tion may save life and vessels.
