OHINEMURI.
Mr V,. G. B. Moss, one of the candidates contesting the Ohinemuri seat, addressed a large gathering of electors in the schoolhouse, upper landing, Tairua, on. November 10th. Mr J. Livesey, chairman of the local school committee, presided. Mr Moss spoke at some length on the mining laws, native lands, and brewing" monopolies, and announced himself a supporter of the present party in power, but not a blind follower of Mr Seddon. He was not a prohibitionist, but would endeavour, if elected, to amend the licensing laws so as to reduce the number of tied houses, and thus assure better liquor being sold. He said the unformed roads and half made tracks in the Tairua district were a disgrace to the Thames County Council, and did not reflect credit on the member representing the electorate. He advised the people of Tairua to throw off their apathy and agitate until they received their fair share of "the needful." At the conclusion of his address Mr Moss was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
Mr Shera addressed a meeting of 150 electors of Ohinemuri at Block 27 last night, and received a vote of thanks.
