AUCKLAND COURIERS' UNION".

An industrial dispute between the Auckland Curriers' Industrial Union and Messrs Ireland Bros, and others has been lodged with Mr E. Goring Thomas, clerk of awards, at the Supreme Court office. The hearing; by the Board of Conciliation is fixed for Thursday, September 14, at 10 a.m. The following employers have been cited to appear, viz., Ireland Bros., Sutherland and Co., Warnock Bros., F. J agger and Co., E."~Astley, and Son, K. and W. Hellaby, G. Suttio and Co., A. Donald, F. Gittos. The following is the statement of the Auckland Curriers' Union: — HOURS OF LABOUR. Clause I.—The working- hours for 5 curriers shall not exceed 45J per week; the week to end at 12 o'clock noon on Saturday. WAGES OF JOURNEYMEN. Clause 2.—A1l journeymen curriers, other than those on piece-work, to receive a weekly wage of not less than £2 15/ (two pounds fifteen shillings). Clause 3.—A1l wages to be paid in full. Clause 4.—No journeyman on piecework to exceed £ 3 as a limited weekly wage. Clause 5.—A1l overtime shall be paid at the rate of time and aquarter. Clause 6. —Only two classes of -workers shall be recognised —journeymen and apprentices. APPRENTICES. Clause 7. —Apprentices to be employed at the rate of one to every three journeymen, or fraction thereof, providing such journeymen be employed two-thirds full-time. The term of service to be five years, and to be legally indentured. The rate of pay to be 5/ per week for first year;; for second year, 10/ per week; for third year, 15/ per week; for fourth year, 25/ per week; and fifth and last year, 30/ per week. Clause B.—No youth shall be employed as improver after having ser* ved five years at the trade. Clause 9. —No unskilled labour to ■' be employed to do any part of af currier's work, except at machined and duibbing, and colour-making, an*, handling sumacs. j' Clause 10.—The wages of any cur* rier over the age of sixty years shafli be fixed by conference between em-< ployer and Union. Clause 11. —No tablemen shall be| employed, except in the case of a 1; journeyman currier who may become, through accident or otherwise, physically unable to do currier's beam work, or in the case of a. currier over the age of sixty years. (Any such, case to be dealt with as provided by clause 10 P ) Clause 12. —All curriers shall receive a fair share of general current work.
