THAMES HARBOUR BOARD.
At a meeting of the Thames Harour Board held last evening, the General Purposes Committee, after inquiring into the financial position of the Board, reported that it was thoroughly sound, the balance of revenue over expenditure leaving ample means to meet the constantly recurrent expenditure connected with the maintenance of the wharves, etc. The year was commenced with a credit balance of £296 19/2 on January 1, and on August 31 the balance in hand was £760 3/7, and the Committee anticipated that by the end of the current year the credit balance would stand at between £800 and. £900. Under these circumstances the committee were at present unable to see any necessity for retrenchment. The report was adopted. Permission was granted the Kauri Timber Company to extend their mill dam at Shorthand. The total amount of revenue collected on behalf of the Bord during Augustt month was £189 10/2. ' -~'■: ;
