MANUKAU LICENSING COMMITTEE.
-*, The quarterly meeting of the Maim, kau Licensing1 Committee was held at the Courthouse, Onehunga, to-day at noon. Present: Mr T. Hutchison, S.M.; Chairman, Messrs Nielson, Burden and iW. Gavin. The only business transacted was a transfer of the license of the Epsom Hotel from John Walker to Richard , Carr. I .'V petition was presented, signed by 700 persons, protesting1 against the extension of the hour of closing- till \\ o'clock. The Rev. S. Lawry and Canon Haselden appeared on behalf of the petitioners. The Rev. S. Lawry also presented four resolutions passed at , public meetings and signed by the' | respective chairmen protesting against I extension of the hours. Mr Hutchison said the petitioners had achieved their object, the application, for 11 o'clock licenses having been withdrawn.
