ELECTION NOTES.
THE MANUKAU SEAT. !fsgj
At the ordinary meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council last night tha Mayor stated that he had telegraphed officially, to Sir G, M. O'Rorke asking him if it .was his intention to seek reelection for the Manukau. He hatreceived a telegram in the affirmative. Mr Bradley congratulated the Mayor on his forethought and suggested that the Council get up a petition to Sin Maurice asking him to stand at thtf next general election.
Mr Fleming said the Mayor ana Council should be perfectly free from political bias, and the Mayor had not proven himself so by telegraphing officially to Sir G. M. O'Rorke.^ The Mayor said the residents of Onehunga were greatly indebted to Sin Maurice O'Rorke for his services, and seeing that other, candidates were ialready in the field, he felt he was quite justified in asking Sir Maurice if he intended to again offer his services to the Manukau. Although he had telegraphed as the Mayor of Onehunga itj was at his own expense.
