THE MARINE COMMISSION;

WELLINGTON, this day.

The Marine Commission opened this morning before Judge Ward and Dr. Giles. Mr Hanlon appeared ii br the Government and said it was desired to make the enquiry of a most searching nature. ' •

judge Ward mentioned that lie had received a letter from Capt. Allman, asking the Government to supply him with counsel, as he is unable to do so himself. . . -

Mr Hanlon said he would consult Ministers.

Mr Hanlon asked for the issue of subpoenas for the Premier, Minister of Marine and departmental ofnciaJs, Captains Allman, Yon Schoen, and Jones.

The subpoenas were ordered to issue and the Commission adjourned till to-morrow.

Th Commission then adjourned trill 2 p.m. to enable a list of witnesses and subpoenas to. be made out.

The members of the Pakuraiiga Hunt Club met at Ihumata on Saturday. A large, attendance of followers were present and some enjoyable runs took place.
