WELLINGTON, this day.

Ministers have been in Cabinet since Saturday discussing the Financial Statement, which is now understood to be well in hand. Its heading feature will probably be loan proposals, and it is surmised authority to borrow a million will be asked. It is expected the Statement will be brought down on Friday night. It is understood that neither Mr Wilson (Wellington Suburbs) nor Mr Duthie (Wellington) will seek re-elecjtion. Mr W. F. Buckland has intimated to the Opposition that he. will contest the Manukau seat.

Mr Walter Wilson, member of the Hawera County Council for some years, and president of the Egmont Agricultural and Pastoral Association, an old and respected settler, died yesterday. At a meeting held at Fairlie on Saturday a proposal to purchase the Three Springs Estate for settlement was discussed.
