HAMILTON, Friday. KTBIKIBIBOA EOAD BOAED.

The Kirikiriroa Boad Board met at Hamilton East to-day. Messrs Hesketh and Richmond, of Auckland, wrote with reference to the Freshfield Gravel Pit. The stated that the transfer to the Board had been made some years ago, but it had never been registered. Since the death .of Mr Grey, the owner, the land hajd been placed in the hands of Messrs E. B. Cox and Helmore as executors,, and the transfer would have to be made over agnin, and a fine paid in addition. The chairman reported that' he had instructed Messrs Hesketh and Bichmond to have the transfer made as soon as possible. His action In the matter was endorsed. The foreman waa requested to have some repairs carried out on the Tramway Eoad and his report on the various works executed since last meeting was adopted. It was decided to have the approaches to the bridge near Mr A. Nieol's nt Komokorau repaired, and the debris removed from the bridge. The' financial position of the Board is as follows: Credit balance, £223 12/9; subsidy due, £30; outstanding1 rates, £1 17/; total, £255 10/3; • leas accounts to pay, £48 2/6. Balance, £207 7/9. Eepajrs to a number of finger posts in the district were authorised. CHESS MATCH . The first chess match this season ! between the Hamilton and Te Awamutu Clubs was played on Wednesday evening last, the Hamiltonians journeying to Te Awamutu by the afternoon train on Wednesday, and returning home next morning. Play was commenced at 4 p.m., and with the exception of a short adjournment for tea continued until 11.30 p.m., at which time the score stood Hamilton 11, rj> Awamutu 3. The following are the scores: Hamilton—Jourdain 2, Jourdain 1, McCrae 2, Stevens 3, Lye 1, Home 2; total 11. Te Awamutu—Germann 0, Colthard 0, Colthard 0, Taylor 0, Macky 2, Latter 1; tottal 3. TENDEE ACCEPTED. The tender oi" Mr Thomas Evans has been accepted for the erection of the new stablea in connection with the Commercial Hotel, Hamilton. The figure was £560. Work will be commenced at once. SICKNESS. Sickness in the ahape of measles, whooping-cough and influenza is very prevalent in this district just now, and few families have escaped the ravages of one or more of these complaints. The measles are especially virulent, and' their after effeots on adults are in many case's serious. •
