The Avondale Literary and Debating Society held its usual fortnightly meeting in the vestry of the Presbyterian Church last evening. The president (Mr E. B. Nesbit) occupied the chair, and there was a very good attendance. The programme for the evening consisted of essays by members, the following papers being contributed, viz., "Music," Mr H. Burrow; "Our Girls," Miss Bead; "Wireless Telegraphy," Mr R. J. Burrow; and "Jack and Jill," Mr W. N. Ingram. The essays were freely criticised and, for the most part, favourably commented upon by various members present.
