Obituary. Sir Alexander Armstrong, the Arctic explorer and ex-Director-General of the Medical Department of-the Navy.

Sir Alexander Armstrong, X.C.8., entered the Medical Department of the Royal Navy in 1843, served hi various parts of the world, and five years in the Arctic Circle, searching for Sir John Franklin, and discovering the North-west passage. He also served in the Russian war in 1855; was Di-rector-General of the Medical Depai-t----inent of the navy, 18G9-80. He published "A Personal Narrative of the North-west Passage," and "Observations on Naval Hygiene."
