N.Z. TALISMAN G.M. CO

REPRESENTATION OF COLONIAL SHAREHOLDERS AT LONDON MEETINGS.

An informal meeting of shareholders in the New Zealand Talisman G.M. Company was held in the large room. N.Z. Insurance Buildings on July sth. The meeting was convened by 'Messrs Fenwick and Anderson to consider the advisability of arranging for the representation of Colonial shareholders at meetings of the company in London. Mr J. H. Upton was called to the chair. There was a g-ood attendance.

Mr Anderson said he had been asked by a number of Talisman shareholders to call the meeting. About 75,000 shares in the company were owned in this colony, and the shareholders had no voice in the proceedings or meetings at Home. It was impossible to send Home proxies every mail to vote at meetings. He thought a committee of shareholders should be appointed to draw up a scheme so that colonial shareholders might be represented at meetings of the company in London.

Mr C. E. S. Gillies moved "That a committee of five, consisting ofMessrs J. R. Gray, A. Hanna, B. Anderson, J. Friar Clarke and Captain Smith be appointed to act generally for the New Zealand Talisman shareholders, and to arrange that colonial shareholders shall be consulted in connection with the company's affairs, and especially with regard to any change in the status of the shareholders."

Mr F. Hull seconded the motion, which was carried.

Mr J. R. Gray thought local shareholders ought to have two representatives on the London Board.

Mr H. T. Gorrie moved' "That the committee be instructed to report, at least every six months to a meeting of shareholders called for the purpose." This was seconded by Mr Chambers and carried. The meeting then dispersed. During the past month SB3 tons of ore treated by the N.Z. Talisman Co. yelded bullion worth £3214 3s Gel. Messrs Miller and Po'ritt, representatives at Karangahake for the N.Z. Talisman Company, have completed arrangements with Mr J. W. Stewart, solicitor, to act as then agent in Auckland for the purpose of receiving all transfers and delivering scrip when issued. This will be a great convenience to people in Auckland dealing in Talisman .shares.
